Viking Mentors are experienced student leaders dedicated to helping first-year and transfer students successfully transition to life at Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø. From your first day on campus through your entire first year, your Viking Mentor will be there to guide you, offer encouragement, and connect you with helpful resources and a supportive campus community.
What can I expect as a new student?
When you're paired with a Viking Mentor, you¡¯ll:
- Be welcomed by a friendly guide who¡¯s here to support you through your first year
- Join a tight-knit group of fellow new students from your FYI-101 class
- Attend events and check-ins that help you build confidence and community
- Get real, honest advice from someone who¡¯s been in your shoes
- Learn how to make the most of the incredible opportunities at Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø

Welcome Week kickoff
Meet your Viking Mentor right away during Welcome Week and start your journey with a built-in support system.
Biweekly small group check-ins
Connect every other week with your Viking Mentor and FYI-101 peer group to ask questions, build friendships, and get support.
Community events
Join fun, inclusive events designed to help you build connections and feel at home at Å·ÖÞ±ÍøͶ_Å·ÖÞ±ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø.
Year-round support
Viking Mentors are with you all year ¡ª not just during the first few weeks ¡ª to help you thrive both personally and academically.

Viking Mentors and Assistant Directors are paid leadership roles open to returning students. Applications for the 2025¨C2026 academic year have closed, but keep an eye out in early spring for next year¡¯s openings!
