He graduated from Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø in 1999 and then got a Ph.D. at Baylor Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø of Medicine in Houston\, where he now runs his own lab in the Department of Molecular Virology and Microbiology.\n\nHis research focuses on how viruses and bacterial toxins reprogram host cell signaling pathways (particularly calcium signaling) to facilitate replication and cause disease. \;\n\nDr. Hyser has mentored 10 Augie students during summer internships and Alicia Strtak '15 is currently doing her Ph.D. work in his lab. \;\n\nIn addition to research\, Dr. Hyser works with recruitment for the Immunology &\; Microbiology doctoral program and sits on BCM¡¯s Central Admissions Committee for the graduate school.
