Bringing Your Own Computer to Campus

While there is no specific requirement, ITS recommends any PC being connected to the network for student use meet the following specs:

Windows 11

8 GB RAM (16 GB preferred)

Macintosh Computers

Capable of running at least one the most recent two versions of Mac OS
8 GB RAM (16 GB preferred)

Software

Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø offers Microsoft Office for all students free of charge.

Anti-Virus

Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø reserves the right to remove any software deemed unsuitable for the Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø Network. Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø does not provide antivirus software, but students are responsible for keeping their devices malware free. 10BaseT or faster Ethernet connection

Ethernet cable (available on-campus)
802.11b or higher wireless card (laptops)
Note: Our wireless access points only broadcast at 5 GHz. Make sure your wireless devices have 5 GHz capability.
USB storage ("thumbdrive" or similar) recommended, available on-campus

Because Å·ÖÞ±­ÍøÍ¶_Å·ÖÞ±­ÍâΧapp-Ͷע¹ÙÍø provides wireless access in our residence halls and TLAs, wireless routers and access points are banned.

Please note: ITS cannot support all variants of all hardware and software that are brought on campus. However, we will always provide free support for connecting to a network and do the best we can to provide information on problems or issues you may encounter. Users wishing to use Linux systems are welcome and encouraged to do so, but support options are more limited at this time.
